Previous Handicap Final

A thrilling and well contested Handicap Final took place with both players demonstrating a desire to win throughout. With a deficit of 35 to catch up, after an initial period of settling into the match Phil set about reducing the points difference, playing a long and tight game. At around a third of the match played he had reduced the difference to 20, at half way to 14 and ultimately to within 11 points.

James played to keep the rally's in play, avoided playing winning shots thereby putting pressure on Phil. James won the match with a last minute surge of energy and determination to achieve a final score of 90 - 77. An excellent final, both players playing to their best ability and with worthy sportsmanship.

Congratulations to James and well done Phil. The match was greatly enjoyed by a full balcony of spectators. Thanks also to Steve Birss for marking the match.
